No one uses a generator to get to 100% state of charge unless they have no choice. Generators are great for heavy loads but lousy for charging house batteries.
You have four batteries. Set it up to be able to split the banks. Use the 960 watts to fully charge one bank while using the other.
Alternately since you have two charge controllers use one on each bank--but draw from only one "set", so that the other can get to 100% soc.
Or you can do as BFL13 does. He bulk charges from his generator to 85% state of charge and then lets the solar bring the bank up to fully charged.
I don't have enough solar to run the heavy devices I wish to use. I'm fortunate to have a remote start generator--so now I turn it on when ever I am cooking and the like. My battery bank (556 amp-hours) gets to fully charged on the 256 watts of solar panels.
If I were going to continue to full time I would do a massive solar upgrade to 48 volts and 1600 watts of panels. But it is not cost effective for me to do so.
