Windmill atop RV

Just out of curiosity has anyone tried the idea of several windmills on top of the RV to generate power to recharge batteries as you are driving? They could be raised and lowered as the situation called for. Or does the generator recharge house batteries while driving? If so does it charge them enough or would the extra from wind power help? As you can tell I know nothing about this - so simple answer with simple words is imperative. Thanks in advance.
  • Other then noise issues, and loss of mpg due to increased drag, you have the 13'6" height limit to deal with.
  • Batteries in a MH are charged while driving.

I have seen a few RV with wind generators. They are mounted on a pole at rear of RV. But only used when parked.
  • A wind turbine is not something I've ever seen on a vehicle, and likely never will. It would take considerable strength to hold that up against 70mph winds, and likely be very noisy. The ones I've seen at campsites are. Otoh, solar charges 12/7 with no noise or danger.

Your alternator may charge the house batteries while driving.. depends. Your generator definitely will.
