Winegard Antenna Booster

It looks like my antenna power source (not sure what it's called) has bitten the dust. It's a Winegard SBP-20A. I checked for availability and see that it's obsolete and only available used. Is there a replacement part I can use instead? It's powering a Jack antenna. Thanks.

The device in the photo has a couple of names... In my field we call it a Bias-T, but Winegard called it a Power Inserter.

It contains basically two or 3 or 4 devices

One coil of wire, called a choke, connecting the POSITIVE lead to the ANT center connection... A Capicator connecting that last point to the TV center connection, and optionally a second coil on the negative side and optionally a diode to protect against reverse polarity, the Diode I would use if I were building it the 2nd coil I might if I had ground loop issues.

It is rare but it is legit, it replaces the wall plate but

1: Does not select between cable and antenna and
2: Works with a remote switch... I have seen exactly one trailer with this device, have never actually seen the device, Thanks for the photo.
  • What is broken on the part? Very simple device. You may be able to scavage parts from a new one if there is an actual broken item. Have you used a voltmeter to check it?

It was working fine, then no signal. The unit has power to it and nothing has changed.
Anyhow, I would just hook up my Jack unit but I left the darn thing at home! Thanks to all. I'll figure something from this input and let you know. Everyone have a great Tuesday!

Forget it. Get a power supply made for the Jack.

I have one but by using the stock setup, I have been able to leave all the coax as is. For instance, the Winegard unit and all the associated wiring is under the floor of a clothes closet. I can install the Jack power supply as a standalone but would prefer replacing the Winegard unit if it is possible to do so. Thanks.

The Jack power supply is functionally identical to what you pictured- the only difference is minor. Just get a female F coupler and cut the power cord to the Jack PS and wire it in.
  • If that still works, that would be OK as well. Personally, I would get one like RoyB is showing.

You can also get the Winegard RV-7042 Power Supply wall unit that connects to 12VDC and will send 12VDC up to your JACK ANTENNA on the same RG cable the TV signal is on. The power injector unit for the JACK has to plug into 120VAC to work. This would only work when you was plugged into shore power... Use this instead of the one provided by KING.

  • Install the Jack power supply or get the newer Winegard power supply. Either way, you need a new power supply. It does the same thing, it's just wired ever so slightly differently.
You still have an antenna in, a TV out and 2 12V wire connections. The Jack is a step down from a Batwing/Wingman combo but that does not mean you can't still use whatever power supply you choose.
