- fj12ryderExplorer IIIIf there's a zerk under the rubber cover it's most likely an EZ Lube. I don't know of any other axles that put a zerk under a rubber cover.
You could get the part number of the axle by crawling under the trailer and then contacting Dexter. They will give you all the specs of the axle.
The only other way I know to tell is to disassemble the axle and see if there's a hole back by the rear seal.
If it's the EZ Lube, don't be over exuberant with greasing the hubs, or grease them too frequently. - DReisingerExplorerPurchased a 2005 Cardinal 30LE a couple years ago. I have the zerk fittings under the rubber cover. How can I tell if it is the EZ Lube and is drilled to lube the inner bearings or just helps the outer ones?
- azrvingExplorerYou wouldn't necessarily need hubs but you would need an axle because it's drilled to allow the grease to go to the inner bearing. When you pop the rubber cap off the the metal grease cap the zerk is there. It's threaded into the end of the axle. The hole is drilled all the way back to the inner bearing area. As grease pushes through the inner bearing it moves out and through the outer bearing.

Do not use a pneumatic grease gun. Only a low pressure hand grease gun. - I don't. Although IMO best to not use the zerk. Too many issues.
