Winter camping at Monument Valley

In Mexico years ago I hauled a queen waterbed as a dry camping reservoir. I had to drive the pickup very carefully because of the weight. I have no idea what a queen waterbed mattress holds in gallons but it was a lot. A hundred plus miles to the nearest pumped water.

We even camp this way in full hookup campsites the rest of the year: Only hookup hoses to fill or empy tanks and then put the hoses away until the next time we need to fill or empty.

The above actions also prevent a pyramid from forming in the black water tank right under the commode.

Why leave the hose out? Fill your water tank and use it. RVs don’t need to be tethered!

Does your RV not have any fresh water holding tanks? If there are grey and black tanks you should also have a fresh water tank. You can leave the grey open as long as you have a sewer hook up as you won't want to be draining on the ground in the park. Also, if you do have hookups, be sure to empty the drain hose as well as it will freeze a bit over and over and then clog.

Actually, I guess it would be ok to only connect when taking a shower and leave the grey open during that time. Thanks for the tips.

Camp in the Valley of the Gods which is close unless you need hookups.

Hard to camp in MV because it is mostly Navajo Nation land.
