Some say to calculate the gauge you need and go one bigger. Komfort uses #8 for their "pre-wired for solar" wire from the roof to the battery compartment, so I use that when I have a panel on the roof and I get full amps to the battery so I like #8.
What I need to do more carefully is measure the R from the panel to the controller when doing max amps in case my various connections of mixed wiring have losses. I can do this as taught by Salvo, but was too lazy this year. Can do each section and find any guilty spots.
Now that I am an MPPT guy, I have to be more refined and not just be a PWM peasant like before!
