I'll do a quick experiment tomorrow and tell you what the effect is. I think what will happen is the voltage will drop by the voltage of one panel, but current will remain constant.
In parallel, one in the shade, the current drops, voltage stays the same.
for us shade isn't an issue. panels are portable so I can (so far) place them such that the both are in the sun during sunshine time.
but for permanent mount it could be an issue
