The wires I have for array-controller are known to be ok for 12.4a with 13v batt and 200w array and PWM.
Now the same wire needs to be good for 7.7a and 30v (mpp) with 230w and MPPT.
I think that means the wires are twice as fat as they now need to be?
The battery-controller wires that took 12a now need to handle maybe 17a at 13v.
yup, the wires from the controller to the battery with a 230W panel an MPPT controller could see around 17A at full output.
and with the 230V panels in series, current from the panel 7.7A is 1/2 what it would be with parallel panels and a PWM controller. So cable power loss w/o changing the wire size will be 1/4 what it was with a Parallel configuration. Twice as fat as needed or less power lost. whichever suites your fancy.
