Yes,the controller output is in parallel with the battery and loads...
However, the panel power is never lost, since there is no excess power, due to the controller's ability to control the panel's power.
Maybe I used the wrong term "excess power".
I was referring to the power that the panel is capable of producing but does not because the battery will not accept it.
