That's ok, as OP I am happy with learning about other aspects to this.
"Gain" means different things when you are talking about absolute or relative amounts.
BTW, if it is true that my 230w panel will do about 17a with a 5% loss from array to battery (no idea of what the real loss will be), then compared with the 14.5v PMW amount based on getting Isc, that would be a diff of 2.5 over 14.5 = 17.24% when panel is getting Isc.
If I double my loss to 10% so I lose 23w I should get 207/13 = 15.9a instead of 17. 1.4/14.5 = 9.6% gain instead of 17.24%
Salvo's graph shows 2.5a direct and 3a MPPT at 0800. 0.5/2.5 = 20%
at 1000 it is 5.8 vs 6.5, so 0.7/5.8 = 12%
at noon it is 8 vs 8.3 so 0.3/8 = 3.75%
But since most of the daily AH are gained in the middle hours, the higher percentage gain in the shoulder hours does not have much of an effect on the daily AH haul total.
I gather that the noon gain of 3.75% there instead of my possible 10-17% at noon is due to the 12v panel vs the 24v panel business?
