Wiring Winnebago View Steps

Hi:
I'm trying to help my neighbor who is having trouble with his Winnebago View (about a 2007 I believe) steps. They would work with the door if the switch was on but if the switch was off the steps would not retract with ignition switch on. A red wire (power I believe) from the harness was broken and it was spliced to a constant on power wire (yellow wire). Right now nothing is working after a purple wire was disconnected. Bottom line is I need to know what the circuits look like. There is a power wire to a battery but I don't know what it goes through. Can anyone supply me with the complete wiring diagram for how the steps should be wired that includes the cabin switch, the door switch and the ignition power and the regular battery?

You can get the schematic here.

In all likelihood, the resistor inside the harness broke.

    Check this out.
    Broken resistor

Any resistor is added by the OEM and will NOT affect the basic operation of the step. Doug
  • I had that same problem. Look at my thread HERE. The last post of that thread takes you to another thread when the issue took a right turn. Follow that thread too.

Then email Lichtsinn Motors and order Winnebago part #094707-04-712 for $20.75.

ON EDIT: I just noticed that Salvo pointed you to the second thread of mine. Thanks Salvo.

BTW, mine is also a 2007, and it stopped working last month.
  • There are only 4 wires that make the step operate correctly. These colors are the STEP harness, not the supply from the OEM as they may vary.
    1. The large red is positive all the time
    2. The YELLOW is only HOT when the Ignition is on
    3. The White is hot thru the wall On/Off switch
    4. The Brown comes from the Magnetic or door pin switch when the door is opened or closed (ground circuit)
    5. The Step itself is grounded thru the large Green wire not connected thru the wire quick connect.
    6. The purple is for optional exterior lights, not needed for basic step operation.
