What exactly is that a photo of?
Shell Ethane Cracking plant in Monaca PA.
What does that have to do with recycled materials? The ethane is a petrochemical, it is cracked to ethylene in a plant like the one in the photo (when it is completed) and made into all sorts of synthetics. And those synthetics for the most part end up in land fills. Not a speck of recycled plastics are involved in the process.
The future of recycling may be that some time in the future it may be cost efficient to mine landfills for organics and metals.
What it has to do with is your earlier post.
"It's instantly obvious to anyone who understands a little economics: the reason why is that it does not generate a positive cash flow. It does not make money in simple words."
It's more than obvious, Mr Obvious. Recycling typically generates 0 positive cash flow, zilch, nada, nothing. Making new plastics generates tons of it and that's why Shell sees fit to spend about a billion + on this place. Same can be said for the one on the books about 60 miles down river, Ohio side.
