WIX oil filter for Onan genny?

Has anyone seen videos or talk about the quality of Onan oil filters? I tried searching who makes them. Also checked youtube for any vids of cutting them open.

I see WIX brand on amazon for the same $10 price. Reviews say its slightly shorter but works. There is also an iFJF brand that is $10 and the pictures actually show the filter taken apart. No sign of cardboard like a cheap fram.

I think WIX might sell a taller filter. Havnt looked up their website yet to search by size. But on amazon i see what looks to be a taller version that cost $17. I would lean more towards changing a decent $10 filter more often than buying a $17 or $20 filter. Running non synthetic Delo diesel oil.

Not against the Onan filter its what i normally buy. I saw WIX as a possible choice and even their standard Wix filter gets high reviews when its cut open and compared.
  • Genuine Onan oil filters are very reasonably prices. I have always used them. Why use any aftermarket brand?
  • Onan does not manufacture filters, they buy them from a filter manufacturer. Any brand will work, Wix, Donaldson, etc. Any preference to brand names is like the old Chevy Ford Dodge argument. I am currently using Wix from Fleet Filters but mainly due to the volume pricing.
  • Unfortunately the meaningful information- x% of y size particles- is not offered up by manufacturers very often. Cutting up filters and chatting about one’s impressions is a popular pastime these days, but not a substitute for real data.

I trend toward buying the better filters with synthetic media, out of the hope that the filtration is somewhat improved, but hope is all I have.

I agree that given no hard facts on filter efficacy, reduced oil change intervals is about all we can control.
