Ah OK that makes sense about the voltage "sending" the amps. Thanks for helping to clear it up!
So it sounds like to me that the "wizard" capable units are better for a fuller charge (mainly because of higher voltage). My only concern during my camping season is being able to put some of the amps back in during the daylight by running the generator for about an hour or hour and a half so that I will not drain the batteries on a 4 day boondock. For this reason, it seems the 7300 Parallax does just fine. It may not take the batteries to FULL 100%, but that is not my concern if it puts some amps back in. My real concern was not having to run a generator or plug into shore power for 8 long hours just to replenish from the previous day's usage. Sounds like if we just fire it up, run the microwave or whatever else we need and then turn everything off, we should get around 40 amps back in if we continue it running for an hour or so. Personally that is my only requirement.
That said, when this 7345 goes bye bye I will still probably get one of the "smart" units for a replacement just because they are the same price and they have neat features like battery charge condition etc.
I was just a little perturbed at the negative comments towards this unit saying it was not a good battery charger when, according to the manual, it clearly is very capable. I have even read that some people think if it isn't specifically labeled "3-stage charger with charge wizard" then it barely charges the batteries and it only does so maybe 1 or 2 amps trickle charge, and will not alter its charging current, thus boiling batteries. According to what I have read from the manufacturer, this is simply incorrect.
