Xantrex Inverter Question?

Call www.donrowe.com for assistance. they set me up in my first TT with a Xantrax 1200 and now in my new to me TT a Xantrax pure sine wave 2000. Never even know its running..

I have 2 Xantrex ProWatt SW 600 inverters, 1 for emergency power for the house (small loads only), and the other does duty providin 110VAC to my computer network during power outages.

The network unit runs all the time as it is the backup power. I use a Xantrex ATS to switch between shorepower and the inverter. Everything works very well.

Now, as to noise, the inverter only gets noisy when it's under serious load. My network forces it to pull roughly 40Amps from the battery bank. This causes the cooling fan to run, and yes, it is noisy. Once the loads are dropped (shorepower has returned) the fan shuts off a few minutes later.

I'd go with the Go Power 600W PSW. MEX told me that weight is an important factor in inverters (heavier duty components). My Go Power 300W actually weighs more than the Xantrex SW600.

I just bought a SW600 a few months ago to replace an old noisy MSW inverter, and it is silent. The only way I can tell mine is on is from the LED display. If yours was noisy, I suspect it was defective.

I ordered mine from iSurvivalgear.com who had the best price at the time and free shipping. I can't recommend dealing with them though. I had to pester them several times and finally threaten to cancel the order before they shipped it. I'm happy with the inverter though.

Sorry, this was a senior moment. I thought Mena was posting about the Samlex SSW series. I would assume the Xantrex 600W inverter is dead silent like my 1000W model.

Good point and make sure you read reviews on the inverter you intend to buy. Some have noisy fans, some fans are thermo controlled, and some fans are on all the time on lower end models. Morningstar makes some nice inverters without fans but they're pricey.
