OP here
Info that came with the Parallax is very vague about actual charge rate. The sticker on front of converter does state "ave charge rate is .5 amp".
I was hoping to not have to buy a new converter but it seems the technology has changed greatly over the last 13 years(trailer is a 2003 model).
I have been reading up on the Progressive Dynamics converters and that is quite an advancement. DALE
Only if you get the Charge Wizard. Otherwise it is the same as the 7355.
You can keep the 7355 in place and use it when on shore power, and just get a second charger for doing fast charging off grid.
That would include a deck mount converter as your second charger that you plug into the generator.
I use an extension cord from the gen in the truck bed over to the deck mount converter/charger up front in the 5er for my off-grid fast charging. In fact I have two up front there, a PowerMax 55 and a 100 amper (both with adjustable voltage.) I can do 155 amps on my battery bank but need a Honda 3000 to run them.
I kept the 7355 for when plugged in on shore power, such as at home.
BTW, that Parallax average amps as they explain, was put on the label to satisfy a US government rule of some sort, and as they say, means nothing really.
