There are so many factors that make a battery usable for RV-ing, be it energy density by weight, energy density by volume, safety, charge curves, discharge curves, physical damage resistance, and so on.
I really wish Truma's VeGA fuel cell that ran on propane got off the ground. That would have killed the absorption fridge, and would constantly provide a trickle charge for existing battery banks, counteracting the draw of fridges, electronics, and the furnace fan.
If I were to place money in R&D, I'd see about usable, inexpensive fuel cells that could use propane, just because propane is more energy-dense than any battery out there.
