"YOUR blahyaddablah HAS SHIPPED!"

CYBERSPEAK FOR....

We sent a message for the carrier to come and pick up the package we haven't even wrapped yet.

And you people wonder why I am grumpy
  • I usually have good luck with the stuff I order. I've never had anything not arrive, and it's usually within the time frame given by the seller. I don't bother checking on the shipping status, tracking number, etc. unless it's been over 5 working days.

No sense in stressing over it.
  • I have ran into this a lot with the policy of "we ship same day retailers". They only printed a label, it will be 2 days before it moves anywhere. The worst trick is what UPS calls Surepost which means after we kick it around a few days we will send it to USPS to do the same and you save 1$.

I must admit I get those "your _____ has shipped" notifications, of course they include a tracking number.

Either A: The tracking number is unknown to the carrier (At this time) not yet having been scanned into their system (Meaning the message really meant "We have printed a shipping label") or with one shipper

    The box arrived yesterday.
  • Yep. Ordered two items a week ago on the 5th. First item delivered to PO same day, lovely carrier dropped by our front door two days later with box in hand. Shipping progress showed every step.
Second item, notification sent to shipper first day (or was it the second?) Estimated arrival date 21st/22nd. No update on status page when checked multiple times a day... item arrived yesterday, delivered by the same lovely carrier. Checked page again - delivered.

    No consistency.

We took a trip to Arizona at the first of the year, with the plan to drop into Mexico. We arrived at my brother's place in Arizona... and promptly remembered that we forgot our passports. Our daughter made her way into our safe (with help), and shipped the passports two day certified. Same story as the second item... no updates except the original one. Three days later, they arrived. She got her money back, no questions asked; we were able to delay our Mexico trip by a day.

    I understand your grumpiness.
  • "Grumpy old Men" is my favorite series.
I am using USPS free pickup and boy, that is a hassle.
They did not pick up the package for 4 days, or 3 bussines days.
With rainy season and lot of mail theft keeping the package at my gate brings lot of concern.
Another time when they did not pick up - I dropped it off at the PO.
2 days later email confirmation of pickup come, where there was no package to pick.
  • or you could always move right next door to a Walmart on one side, a Home Depot on the other and Lowe's across the street with an Amazon warehouse just over the backyard fence.

How else would the carrier know to pick up a package if a message isn't sent to them to come pick it up?

  • Hey Mexicowanderer. I don't think you are grumpy. You postings are excellent! Lotta fun mostly.
