1973 Silver Streak Continental Door

I'm a full-time living Silver Streak owner, and I have a little problem. Over the years, before it came to my hands, the original door was replaced with a handmade one. With duct tape and sealant strips I'm able to keep the water and bugs out, however... I'd really like to have a door that is as close to original as I can get, be it true original or hand made.

If anyone on here knows the specs for the door, or has a source for one, I'd greatly appreciate it. The curve at the top of the door definitely rules out the larger RV flat doors.

  • Welcome.
possible someone has an idea but not likely.
my one suggestion would be to find rv junkyards and know what size and shape you need. I’d imagine far less standardized parts 50 years ago. But maybe Airstream is similar or the same?

Thank you for the reply. Sadly, Airstream is too different to fit. The bend at the top of the door for Silver Streaks is not as pronounced as Airstream.

I honestly didn't know there were junkyards specific to RVs. I will have to look around. I assume they are speed out far, and would have to ship something.

  • Try contacting places that restore vintage RV's. Flyte camp comes to mind. They may have an idea how to get a part, or even make one for you.

Cool. Check back in, I would love to hear how you made out.

  • Sadly, I've exhausted all salvage hopes. I'm most likely going to have to get a custom metal shop to make something for me.
