I certainly wouldn't put just any old ATF in my Ford transmission but I have full confidence that if the transmission is designed to run hot, the synthetic fluid that is used in the transmission is designed to be able to provide the necessary lubrication at temperatures well over 230 degrees. If I've got the specified fluid in my transmission and no warning light is on I'm not going to be concerned regardless of whether or not I've got warranty on my truck. I guess hearing of all sorts of 10R140s burning up might change my attitude.
