You probably know a lot more about this than I do but my understanding is that the viscosity of an oil is tested at 210 degrees. Non synthetic oils can't spend much time at temperatures much over that without breaking down. On the other hand synthetic oils can be designed to handle far more heat and still operate at their rated viscosity....well over 300 degrees without any ill effects. I don't know much about this but if running high transmission temperatures required more frequent change intervals wouldn't Ford specify more frequent change intervals?
