I think this method is legit as long as you do it the same way every time.
But you don’t get the added advantage of “carefully” filling it to the brim with a couple few clicks and the nice splash of diesel that runs out the water drain between the 2 flappy deals in the fuel filler….
Bonus points if it splashed on your shoes or toes….
Not sure how to account for the volume loss there either…lol
