Holy smokes forgot about the tow. $6k?
Yikes. And for a setup that nobody uses. (People don’t generally flat tow old F250s with tow bars that cost more than the truck.)PS you could have rented a trailer much cheaper. (Not a yoo howl). Or literally bought one and easily recouped 100% of the cost.
Hopefully you resist the urge to keep it with the next new engine. - Camper_Jeff___KNomad III
I installed an engine from Powertrain Products which worked fine until all of a sudden when it didn't. Spent about 6000 towing it home. 4700.00 for a Blue Ox tow setup and stuff to put it all together. A little over a thousand bucks for a truck from Enterprise who BTW were GREAT to us. I bought another rebuild from a remanufacturer machine shop in Portland Oregon who seem to have put together a nice engine for 2200.00 bux which is about 1300.00 less than Powertrain and other sellers. Of course the old engine was out of it's 3 year warrantee. Currently installing the new engine. Having some parts difficulties and other challenges which move the goal posts a bit farther down the field but we're getting there. I hope to be up and running Saturday or Sunday. I am still planning to attend the TCA truck camper rally in Q, Roadrunner Wash since I already paid for it. Hopefully if your there too, I'll tell you all about it.

Yikes. Didn’t you put a reman in it a couple years ago too? Out of warranty now I presume?

My guess is all the missing piston pieces are laying at the bottom of the pan. But I agree with you that it seems weird that the piston grenaded so completely.
