It’s so fun or funny to see the this evolve with EVs.
Really wish there were the old Tesla nut humpers here to engage in this, like that Yosemite Sam guy….lol.
Also interesting how politics has affected this and how a simple change in political power can now make folks who were dumb enough to believe that Elon was not a pure conservative capitalist while he was pandering for their business! Basically the guy is a genius with marketing and facade as well as technology. I do love seeing liberals hate on their own cars now, personally!
And now the statements like above, surmising that BYD “blows Tesla out of the water”. $ for $ maybe yes, pending tariffs, but you don’t know how well they’re built and how long they last just from the internet. Sounds like another suckers game….
Unless I suppose you’ve been long term testing them in China while purporting to be running North America in your RV….lol.
PS, they’re cheap because China still doesn’t gaf about everything both political parties here claim to care about which is the environment and fair pay.
Then, take into account the overall limitations which 100% aside from personal or political motivations, is now showing its face (range, charging, cost, etc).
Fun thread!

um, you do know BYD is the number 1 ev seller in the world, and the only reason they are not in north America is that there was a 100% tariff put against Chinese ev's by the US and Canada shortly followed along when asked to, although apparently they are in talks with Canada right now as we have to find more reliable trading partners for another 2 to 4 years at least. you think that just happened, nope it was because ford dodge and chev don't want to have to sell there ev's for a reasonable price, or any other auto for that matter. BYD has been selling ev's since 2008, and sell world wide. in 2024 they sold 4,272,145 EV vehicles. tesla also started in 2008 with the limited run of the roadster but never really offered a car for the masses until 2014 with the s model, and it was very hard to get also.
.he fact is tesla is not a well built car, and it is the ugly winner for ev's, now we won't even bring the silver BFI bin of a truck they make into this discussion
ford makes a decently built ev's, but the North American pricing is to high. the governments keep wanting everyone to switch to EVs to reduce emissions, ya that makes sense but, instead of manufactures coming in at a competitive price with there products to make people want to buy them, governments offer rebates and such which still keep the price up and limit ev's to people that can afford them in the first place. GM has finally released their truck so we will see how that is.
the simple matter of fact is there is a reason things are made overseas, they are not lower quality or this or that, it is simply because American and Canadian businesses wanted to increase their profit so they moved manufacturing to lower labour cost markets. if you want to bring manufacturing back, get rid of the stock market, share holder dividends are what drive the strive for lower manufacturing costs and higher sales prices in everything now days.

You must work for the Government.
The other 90% of us are aware of the fact that our retirement funds are invested in the stock market. When dividends (e.g: profits) vanish, our retirement income vanishes; end result - we work until we die.In reality, sales minus costs = profits. No one survives without profits (except in communism).
Regarding getting rid of the stock market - you’re probably old enough to realize it’s here to stay. That horse left the barn centuries ago. I have no idea why you would even suggest such was possible.

your kind of funny, I like that, if you think I was serious about that, might be time to think about it again. you are never going to get rid of the stock market, I was just trying to point out it is that, that drove all the manufacturing jobs overseas from Canada and the US so trump isn't doing anything by raising tariffs aside from making the average American spend more to live, and that any real manufacturing jobs in the US and Canada depend on tax breaks and such to survive. if they are big enough they have the lobbying power to get the government to put tariffs against their overseas competition which were created in the first place by shareholders desires to cut cost and maximize profit.
