I just purchsed a new Ram 2500 with a cummins last week. I have never owned a diesal truck before then. I traded a 2012 chevy 2500 with a 6.0 that i had purchased to tow a travel trailer the weighed when loaded around #9000lbs. I traded because at first i thought i could get by towing my new fifth wheel because it is mostly flatlands here. The more i thought about it and the more i read about it i realized that even though id b towing over flatlands it would put a strain on the chevy because the dry weight of the new fiver was #12150lbs dry. Saturday i picked up my new fiver and without a dought i found out coming home on the interstate that i made the right choice. The gas chevy may have pulled it but it would have kept the motor and transmission maxed out during the whole 40 mile trip home. The Ram only shifted into a lower gear one time and that was for a very short time. So from a first time diesal owner with his first fifth wheel to someone thinking about making the switch "do it" you will be glad you did.......i am.
