Started with 1994 GMC 1/2 ton gas 5.7 towing 22' TT. Started using 1/2 ton Suburbans (3 different ones) and replaced transmissions in the truck and all 3 Suburbans. Went on a trip with another family with WAY bigger 5th wheel and Ford 7.3 diesel. They would really leave us behind in the mountains and got MUCH better mileage while doing so. (And back then, diesel fuel was cheaper than gas!). I bought a 2006 GMC with DMax and my life was changed! Soon I bought a 32' 5th wheel and pulled it all over New Mexico and Colorado mountains without any trouble. Traded that truck for a 2011 Ford diesel (just because I wanted a new truck) and pulled the same 5th wheel from Texas to North Dakota and back again without any problems. Now I have traded the 5th wheel for a new motorhome. I love my truck, but without a trailer to pull I will probably trade back to a gas truck just for the cheaper fuel.
