Only Toyota steps up to the plate to correct design defects. I would have gone with a Toyota diesel over anything from the big three if they had one in the USA. My brother blew the head gasket on his Toyota with the V-6 engine at 110,000 miles and Toyota paid for a full rebuild of the engine and gave him a 100,000 mile warranty on it. He has now put an additional 200,000 miles on that engine.
My Chevy Tahoe blew the engine head gasket at 77,000 miles and it was my expense and my nephew had the head gasket blow at 37,000 miles on his Malibu and he had to pay for the repairs. Same applied to most of the owners with Duramax LLY engines with their crimped head gasket defect. Some owners got their engines fixed but many have had to pay for the repairs out of pocket.
