My first TV was a 2000 Ford Expedition with the 5.4 that was getting 8-9 mpg towing my 26 ft trailer w/o towing 14-15 mpg city. Traded it in for a 1998 GMC 3500 1 ton dually with the 6.5l td. Getting around 11-12 towing and w/o towing 15 mpg city. I would not go back to gas but I would ugraded my diesel for a newer diesel the 6.5 doesn't have the hp or tq like the newer ones do. Also the cost if something breaks is not cheap, but with a diesel as long as you take care of the normal maintenance the diesel should last for a long time.
