Well, I would have to say that I'd be surprised if you run across someone who is more knowlegable of the HA operation than you are. While you haven't experienced it, you understand the mechanics far better than most owners who are probably quite content to assert that it DOES work, and really don't understand how or why. If you ever get out my way, we'll hook up my rig and you can give it a personal experience.
It's nearly as easy to hook it to your rig, except for height. In order to get the TT level, you have to use a hitch bar that accounts for any elevation dfference between your receiver and the HA receiver. On the other hand, my first towing experience had the TV front end 6" low because I didn't know any better, and my ignorance didn't seem to make much difference. I towed it over a mountain and back down in the dark a total of about 80 miles. I'd towed 1500 # many times, but this was my first experience with 34' and 8,000 #. The only surprise was that going up the hill, I was only doing about 30 mph in my 1/2 T truck.
And I was pleased that that was the only surprise.
