I have a 2016 F350 with the 6.7 diesel. I had the S&S DPK added to my CP4. This way if it does fail the replacement cost should be much less. I also use the Archoil additive with every fill up. I would recommend at the very least the S&S DPK. Good luck.

Nice, someone with actual experience. You had it installed. So you hired it out? Who'd you get to do the install?
I had a local mechanic do my install. He is a former Ford Master Mechanic and has done any work I have needed in the past. I had a 2003 F350 previously with the 7.3L diesel. Hopefully I won't need the DPK but I consider it insurance. Good luck.
Update: Took my $400 S&S DPK to my local Ford dealer, and they installed it. They had to change the $200 crankcase ventilation filter and charged $736 for labor. Now I just need to figure out how to afford fuel.
To answer my own question below, I did not find much in the way of additives on my last trip to Utah. I'm carrying some Opti-Lube XL now.
The truck hasn't seen much use since the DPK installation. I happened to use it a couple weeks ago to haul the boat to a local mechanic, and noticed the check engine light. Code was P0001 which relates to the fuel pump, so I took it back in. Eventually they found the connector that was either never reconnected, or had not been clicked in all the way and popped out. They made it right, and didn't charge me any more. It could have really ruined an outing, though. I'll be using the truck as my daily driver for a bit now before heading into the boonies. Suggest anyone installing the DPK put a few miles on it before heading out for real.
