Nice mod I guess, but not anything that’s going to help from a real world seat of the pants experience.
We'll see what happens. I've done enough to the engine at this point where if it does make any difference, how would you be able to distinguish it from the other modifications.
I have the thinner Cometic MLX head gaskets which will reduce combustion chamber volume by perhaps 2CC and raise compression by a fractional point or 3. I ported out the exhaust to be closer to header size and matched the ports to the headers for better flow. Installing the Y-Pipe to eliminate the 180 degree turn and the two choke points in the exhaust system, a high volume oil pump, and the coolant flow adaptors on the back of the heads to improve and promote more even cooling characteristics. I do expect to see more horse power, how much remains to be seen. The goal is to be able to hold speed on the highways in a headwind or slight uphill grade, and not dropping down to first or second gear when going over the passes. An additional 25 or 30 HP might be just enough.
