GVWR of trailer is 7100 lbs. The current tires are rated for 1760 lbs at 50psi. Which would give me 3520 per axle or 7040 GVWR.
GVWR is 7100 lbs and even 22.5" semi tires won't raise it. Moving up in capacity 10-15 percent at the most above the axle rating just gives a bit more reserve capacity for the tires. Higher rated tires/wheels does nothing for the trailers suspension/brakes/etc.
Would it be feasible to upgrade tire and rim to a 205/75/R15 tire/rim combo. By that choice, i can get a Load range D type of tire and not have to worry about weight. Would I have to have the axels realigned to a bigger tire.
No need to realign the axles for just a tire swap.
The 15" D in a ST205/75-15 tire would be a good upgrade on 3500 lb axles.
Their are 15" LT out here that would be the best upgrade for long term reliability all day long at any speed on any the interstate.
