Enjoy the new truck OP... I will not beat up on you for choosing a diesel! While the 6.0 doesn't have the best reputation the rest of the truck is FANTASTIC. And the 6.0, when performing in top shape, is one of the most well mannered diesel I have ever driven.
At the least I would invest in a $200 ish ScanGauge II just to make sure the oil temps and the coolant temps are within 15 degrees of each other. Taking emotion out of the equation. If they ever go beyond 15-20 degrees in difference stop the truck and call a wrecker before you blow a head gasket. That means there is an oil cooler or EGR cooler or both failure and you NEED TO STOP IMMEDIATELY.
