Just got back home with the truck,pics coming tomorrow am. I feel really happy and lucky to have got this truck.

I paid 26k for my truck in 09 and it only had 18k miles on it. Everytime I take it to the dealer for an oil change the salesman offer me 26k as a trade in. The LBZ holds its value.

That's the market on used diesels these days, though, or at least that's the market on the desirable ones (I'm not naming names).

I shopped used trucks for quite awhile and ended up deciding it wasn't worth going with a used model unless I wanted to go with a gas truck. I paid $11k more for mine new than OP did used. Whether that $11k in savings is worth 8 years of use and 80k miles boils down to personal preference - I think either decision is reasonable depending on circumstances.

This is a good example of how diesels don't actually cost any more than gas trucks in terms of total ownership cost.

Congrats to OP - the reputation on that model is fantastic.

Coming from a 2005 2500HD gasser I shopped hard for the exact same truck as the OP. Yes that truck is worth 28-33K all day long anywhere in the southeast. Heck I was ready to drive to Florida to buy one I wanted it so bad. At the end of the day though I felt like IdaD and went the new Ram route, although he got a better deal :M.
Congrats on the truck, even with a new Ram in the driveway I still envy ya! 2006-07 2500HD is one of the best looking trucks on the road, even if it is 10 years old.

no offense taken was cash deal. Don't need a bank. My limit was 40k cash and I didn't want to jump on a Truck right away. This is exactly what I was looking for in a truck.

Yeah the market for these trucks especially 06-07 is hard to find and a really clean one like the one I got. I been looking for 2 years and just didn't want to Seattle for a truck with a lift, tuner ,exhaust or a high milage one. I had to drive 2 hours to get it. It all worked out great.

The key component here or the lack of for the higher resale value is the lack of a DPF.

There are literally people hunting down diesel trucks that came from the factory without a DPF and are willing to pay top dollar for one that's not been trashed and beat up.

They can be idled, don't have CEL's to fight, don't have soot clogging EGR's, and not forced to "drive to clean" or all that stuff.

The tongue lashing was because you paid that much for an eight year old GAS truck.
