Maybe or maybe the gearing was optimized for the route they took, but I don't want to make any excuses for it. It is what it is.
Funny thing is that they seem to be about the same fuel economy wise on Fuelly. The 2018 GM's seem to have a little better fuel economy, but I think that is mainly due to the fact that there are not that many people posting versus the Ram and Ford which causes higher numbers and usually come down as more people post. All of the 2017 numbers, which was the first year of the L5P are in line with the others at around 14.5-15 mpg.
