Another meaningless regulation typically ignored by the public.
Sometime back I had couple of old tanks that could not be refilled or exchanged because they had the old style valve on them. The fact that they were bright and shiny made no difference.
I stored them for a couple of years until the valve hubbub settled down and swapped them out at a gas station. The Rhodes scholar working the counter never even came out. He just had me put the old ones in the cage on the right and take the refills from the cage on the left.
It was a good deal, the refill folks got a nice pair of tanks that they will pop a new valve in and I have a set of scratched and rusted tanks with new valves.
I doubt the kid behind the counter could or would even read a date code.
