Pure gas turns to junk as well, it just doesn't pick up as much water with it, and it does last a bit longer.
And "junk" is subjective depending on the engine. A mower will run on any old gas as long as it's still flammable enough to light off, as long as the sustem isn't gummed up.
I have several engines that "junk" means, if it loses a few octane points, it will detonate ping and maybe blow up.
The ultimate for storage purposes is race gas or AV gas.
I consider Eth having3 mo shelf life, pure gas 6 mo, treated, 1 year, AV 2 years.
