All I "KNOW" is that my 1966 PONTIAC GTO with a compression of 10:75 to 1 doesn't ping any longer. Buying various brands of 91 octane always caused that engine to ping. Since buying only 91 octane GASOLINE ONLY it no longer pings. I hope this helps someone out there with an older high compression engine.
