Still have 4 diesels on the ranch and I much prefer to drive the gas 6.2L 99% of the time. MOST people have NO need for a ¾T or a 1T unless they pull extremely heavy loads or are hotshot drivers. So, it is NOT apples to oranges when a comparison is offered.The Texan wrote:
LOVE my 6.2L with the NHT package. So glad I decided to go with this instead of a diesel. You will not be disappointed, even when you hook up 5T to the back.
6.2 = 1/2 ton
Diesel = 3/4 or 1 ton
Basically apples/oranges...
Your opinion. Not fact. Not even close. OP has a great truck and it suits his needs. Others believe, as do I, in a heavier duty truck if for no other reason than to have a little additional capacity instead of pushing limits.
My diesel (one that most people have no need for) pulls the grades in Washington state without breaking a sweat and doesn't have to rev its brains out to do it. 10K on the bumper is a warmup at best and it makes for a very nice ride. When I pull out to pass, we pass. We don't clog up the left lane like the guy pulling his limits (or over, if you read a bit here) with a half ton.
Oh yeah, and there's the mileage thing. Mixed loop, three mountain passes, 60/40 mix city/highway, highway cruise at 75, empty, 450 miles, 22 MPG.
I will never own another gas truck. MY opinion, and agree that comparing a half ton gasser to heavier duty diesels is apples and oranges. I've towed with both and for me diesel pulls better.
A DD is another story
YMMV.
OP, that's a really great looking truck.
