100K mile Duramax

Well the Burb is sold and I'm looking at trucks. Most of the Duramaxs' that are in my price range are 70-100K mile range. 2006-2007. Any known issues? I really haven't read anything serious online. I know the earlier ones had injector problems. I'm also looking at 2008-2010 gasser's but heaven forbid I ask anyone for their opinion on that, the thread will get closed.

From what I've been reading the newer 6.0 gasser with the 6 speed tranny gets decent mpg. I just sold the biggest fuel sucking beast that ever rolled out of Detroit so I would like to see better economy !!!

Also, how can I tell if a tuner has been on before? Or can I ?
I'm seeing a lot with goose necks in the bed. Should that steer me away?
  • I've done most of the work on my 454 over the years. However I know NOTHING about these new diesels. Visually looking under the hood, I would have no idea if something's been deleted or not.

    Specifics ?
  • I like my 6.0L/6-spd. I'm not sure I'd like it as much with only a 26gal fuel tank of the short bed trucks prior to 2010, though. But I'd go for the 06-07 Duramax. Many people say that is the best year to own. Few problems, fewer emissions equipment.
  • a dealer can read the ecu and see if theres been a tuner on it. can check for visual cues like emission deletes and things like that. cant go wrong with an lbz my friend. dont recall problems with lbzs/lmms. i could be wrong it is 200 degrees out and ive been workin around the house outside. good luck bud.
