Anyone have a truck camper on a 1/2 ton truck?.Our Nissan pro 4x has a payload of 1843. The camper weighs 1850.Planning on putting airbags on it.
Depends if you're looking for a fully self contained camper, or just a bed, storage and maybe a place to cook. Forget the former but take a look at something like Four Wheel Campers for some fairly light models designed for small trucks.
A dry weight of 1850 is not a good idea... - Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer III put my stripped-down Bronco pop-up camper (about #1000) on my 2014 Ram 1500 4x4. With the addition of coil spring air bags, it handled quite nicely; but I'm sure not recommending it for a hardside (taller) or heavier camper.
- d3500ramExplorer IIIIf a TT is an option over a TC in your realm of RV possibilities then in my opinion that will be your better option for several reasons:
- -no monkeying around to upgrade suspension with perhaps less than satisfactory results.
- -equal or even more space.
- -perhaps less expensive.
- surveyor_roadieExplorerTyler 0215,thanks for the laugh. I think we will go with a small TT.
- Tyler0215ExplorerWith no gas, no people, no gear, you'll be just fine. Oh and forget the air bags, that's more weight.
- GordonThreeExplorerThis recent thread might be of some use?
