12 volt coffee maker

Several years ago I tried a 12 volt coffee maker on my boat. I recall that it took thirty to forty-five minutes to brew. I guess if you were desperate for coffee, it was okay. I had better results brewing with 110 v/gen the night before and warming on the stove in the morning. I wake up way too early (4:30/5:00) to be using generator.
As I mentioned, this was several years ago, the 12 volt coffee makers may have improved since then.
