12vdc in Jayco Eagle 12 LSO

Battery should power lights etc without being plugged in.
Get a volt meter or a friend and starting checking at the battery and go from there.
Are you sure the battery is wired correctly.
Might also be a fuse issue.
Also check the battery ground connection to the frame.

What Jerry said... gospel. But I'm just curious... do the lights work when connected to shore power? If so, that eliminates two possibilities... the internal run of the lighting circuit is intact, and the previous owner did not experience a catastrophic total bulb burn-out event. :)

RED should be Battery POS
White should be battery NEG

Trace White from battery to frame...verify it is ground/negative.

Then trace RED from battery to the in-line main fuse (or DC circuit breaker)....probably a 30A size.
Should be on trailer tongue......circuit breaker looks like a small box with 2 studs. May have a reset button ---small tab.
In-line fuse or tripped CB -----no power to/from battery

Then check inside at the converter DC Dist Panel......for a couple of 'reverse polarity' fuses. Probably 30A also. If blown no power to/from battery.

We plugged the 'shore' power in and all lights work. Converter fan runs fine. Receptacles also work fine.

After looking over the tongue wiring some more there is definitely something wrong.

The battery leads look good. The red has a 20A fuse and the white connects straight to the trailer frame as ground/negative.

I am guessing the issue may have to be with the wiring from the trailer tongue to the tow vehicle. Although I am a bit confused why that would prevent the battery from powering the 12VDC system on the trailer.

There is a 5 pin rectangle plug on the trailer. It is connected to a flat 4 pin connector for the tow vehicle. I peeled off all the electrical tape and found this:

Tow Vehicle -> Trailer
White to White
Brown to Green
Yellow to Red
Green to Brown

The thick red wire from the 5 pin rectangle connector does not connect to anything. What should that connect to?

Looks like some on has fudged things around a bit

Have you tried a separate ground from the battery right to the trailer?

Red wire could have been used as a charge wire for the battery from the tow vehicle.

Do all stop, turn and tail lights work properly?

I have the battery on a charger now. Just got home last night from the weekend.

Yes - all brake lights and signals worked properly.

Update.

I charged the battery full. Hooked it up and no power to the 12V system.

I replaced the terminals for the battery and ground. Still nothing.

Is it possible that there is something wrong in the converter that is only affecting the Battery to 12V flow?

Like I said, all 12V items work fine when on plug power. And all trailer lights work when hooked up to the vehicle.

Ideas?

It sure sounds like you have an issue with the integrity of the interior run of your wiring harness. Short of ripping it out and replacing it, if it were me I'd start testing it with an ohm meter for continuity... I'd start at a point furthest from the pigtail and work backwards.

Not being able to see all of the red wire that runs from the tongue to the converter...I moved the battery close to the converter and tried hooking it up directly to the red wire going into the converter (with fuse, of course) and still nothing.

What wiring harness are you referring to? The one coming out of the converter?
