14" tires

Capt RonB - thanks for the info on the Kumho 857. We also have a Visa 19ERD (2010) and I will rest easier once we replace those marginally rated Load C bias ply tires. I guess our axle is one of the better aligned ones because the treads are wearing pretty evenly and not half worn yet.
Have you checked out Philip Abele's experience (on the Visa facebook forum I think) - he took his Visa to a frame shop and they bent his axles into alignment.

Just bought the Kumho 857s for my TT through Tire Rack. Two days and I had them installed and balanced. Great experience. Had them shipped right to a local Goodyear store and they did the install. I'd use both again, excellent service.

Apparently these tires are not available locally and the local guys couldn't order them (or didn't want to be bothered) I even had one guy insist that I tell him the aspect ratio before he could look it up. The tires are sold as size 205/14 C trailer use only. They are load range D however (2271lbs at 65psi).

Leaving Thursday on our first trip with these tires. The original Chinese Trailmasters only lasted about 1700 miles and didn't even make it a year. One was replaced under warranty with a cracked sidewall but they were wearing so fast that I decided just to step up and buy the Kumhos. Hopefully I won't have to worry about it for a while.

By the way, the trailer is a 2012 Gulfstream Visa single axle and right at 3500lbs GVW ...

Drive to Discount Tire. They can get Maxxis within 2 days at a fair price. I paid $550 mounted/balanced for 215/75R14.

As far as I know Consumer Reports has not tested Maxxis trailer tires. Maxxis has a great reputation in ATV tires as well as trailer tires.

Put 5,000 miles on Chinese Trail America ST tires. I had to replace them due to sidewall cracking. I never covered them nor treated them with any chemical. Currently have 1,500 highway miles on Carlisle Radial Trail RH. Will put another 1,500 miles on them before I return home.

The size is the standard 15" (205/75/15).

I never exceed 65mph and have hit some nasty potholes due to the winter that is holding on to the EastCoast and now midwest.

To the OP - just makes sure they have the new Nylon cap. The brands that have this are-Carlisle, Towmax, Westlake and others.

It's not always the tires...but the driver....

My TT is about the same, a bit heavier, same sized OEM. I just bought Maxxis 8008 in 215/75R14 a coupel weeks ago. First trip was good. That's what I would recommend. My local discount tire store got them in 2 days.

Doubt if you WiLL hear much good about any Chinese manufactured tires that are actually USED much. Maxxis are a BARGAIN and buying someting cheaper that doesn't do the job is NEVER a bargain.

Thanks for the info! I will probably replace my tires next year, and was liking for something better than the ST tires.
