How much did the Ram cost vs Ford?
I know the F450 is $74500, but I don't remember seeing the Ram's price. That's a better argument over this whole "badge" thing.
In the end, if it took Ford a $74500 truck to beat Ram's $64500 truck, then fail. But if on the other hand, the Ram's $80000, then fail for them.
Myself, I'd get a used Pete 379 or Kenworth W900 long before shelling out 6 figure (Canada) for the pickups.
Truck MSRP for my 13' (same truck as the 14), was $66,780 or somewhere there abouts., but 10,000 was taken off before incentives, rebates etc....ended up around $52K if memory serves me correctly..I have paperwork, will find it if need be.
Highest priced 2014 Ram 3500 DRW CC/LB/ 4X4's with Cummins/Aisin/4:10 at area dealer is sticker priced at $66,760 (this is loaded out Laramie), price before incentive, rebates, or any haggling....most have been getting 10K off as reported on the Cummins forum for the 14's, (as was with the 13's)
Have no idea what a 15' Ford loaded out F450 would cost...
69,345 msrp for a '15 F450. That is with Platinum trim and includes options such as nav and sunroof.
Yeah the 14" Ram is loaded out with nav, sunroof etc.... Don't really care for a sunroof, to me they're a waste, rarely if ever used them and we had them on several of our vehicles, thus the reason I ordered this one without sunroof...
The prices on the 14' will be discounted of course by quite a bit, I wouldn't expect a 15' Ford , Ram or chevy/GM disounted much when they first hit the market. - 4x4ordExplorer III

True. My POS Generals were 2/3 worn at 25k.
Mine were worse going up and down the mountain to the stick and brick. Hate to rattle Jim, but...... they sucked. Should have done knock offs in week one.
No argument here...only issue I have is the OEM tires don't last as long as the exact same tire purchased after market....noticed that over the years with other tires also...

What would happen if the RAM had 4:30 gears? Letting off what a joke....
Same old C channel frame since 1999...
Big radiator and alternator, how about the dual alternators and radiators in the RAM...
Loved the 2 second clips showing the Ford flying past the RAM.Cummins12V98 wrote:
The point is it takes a F450 to compete with RAM's 3500.
Fact is RAM has the SAE test to back up what they claim, does the Ford?Cummins12V98 wrote:
No whining on my part! If it makes you feel better saying so that's fine.
RAM gcvwr is around 37,600#.
My bad, I must have misunderstood all of that then... - blt2skiModeratorI do not think I have ever gotten more than 30-35k out of a set of generals. Michelins have not been much better........at least how I use tires......
your mileage may vary on tires no matter the brand etc.

They don't just come on Ram dually trucks. More truck manufacturers than just Ram put the General tires on their trucks...They're really not a very expensive tire, so I would wonder what one would expect?
I expected a quality tire on my quality truck. I sure hope you have better luck than I did with your Generals.. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

They put long lasting Michelin's and BFG's on the 3rd gen trucks. I easily hit 100K and more with the take offs on my 98 4X4.
I asked Dave Smith about Michelins and they said that is what all Dually's come with. Next RAM WILL have Michelin's or BFG's before leaving the lot!
Sad part was at the 25K mark the front tire had a BIG tread separation. - 45RicochetExplorer

The 5500, went from 19500-26K gvwr. Meanwhile, the 6500, went from 19500 to 25500! Yep, the 5500 had a higher potential gvwr vs the 6500 due to spring/axel/tire options. Meanwhile the gcwr at one time was 26-33K for the 45/55 series rigs due mostly to the 6.6v8 diesel/8.1v8 gas option with the ZF manual or allison 1000 in the rigs up to 19500, the 2000 series allison, was in the 19501-26K gvwr trucks.
The 6500's, all had I6 diesels with more HP torque options, gcvw's upwards of 50K lbs with allison 2000 minimum, 3000 options, and spicer 5 and 6 sp manual options.
