Good grief Ford.

Of course, I am NOT gonna hold my breath waiting for Ford to let this happen.
Marty, the 450's are now running 19.5's, unsure of size. The Ram has the old and steady size of 235/80R17's.
They are. In the pickuptrucks.com test out next week all trucks will be duallys, diesels and have 3.73's. - BigToeExplorerI wish the host who makes those videos would just shut up and let the engineers at least finish their sentences.
That ego centric host thinks he is so attractive that he has to keep his head in the camera at all times, even when he is doing an "impromptu" video walk around of the bare 450 chassis that Ford brought to the media day. And to top it off, his knowledge about trucks is so uninformed, his videos fail to be informative, even when in the presence of the horses mouth engineers who have the information. He takes up so much time stating the obvious, that he misses many opportunities to ask follow up questions on topics the engineers lead into. Then he interrupts the engineers as they are speaking.
The amazing thing is that Ford flys this megalomaniac around the country to produce this time wasting fluff. - blt2skiModeratorNorsky,
Last I looked the 450 used 225-70-19.5 which is 31,5" or there abouts in diam, same diam as the 235-80-17. So no real difference in diam. Maybe some whopping .2" or there about difference. Not enough to be visible to most of. Other sizes similar would be the 265-75/235-85-16 There is an 18" size or two used that is also about 31.5-31.7" in diam also.
Marty - 4x4ordExplorer IIII think it makes total sense to compare the F450 to the 3500 Ram. If I am wanting a truck to tow 30,000 lbs this is what these two manufacturers recommend. The engines and transmissions are designed different that to say they need to have identical rear end ratios seems foolish to me. I actually tow 30,000 lbs quite regularly with my 2011 srw and it seams to handle the weight well enough for my expectations. I have heavier trucks that I could use but my personal preference is to use the pick up for lighter loads like that.
- mpierceExplorerWow. 450 beats a 350 to the top, after the 350 lets off. Fair as Ford will let it be!

450 Ford guy: " yup $70,000 and to service the turbo you simply remove the cab...on the Ram you hafta open the hood..."
That right there is the selling point! I don`t care if the Ram is an hour late to the top. I want the truck that will be easiest to repair "If" it breaks. not the hardest to repair "when" it breaks! - notevenExplorer IIIThose are nice pickup trucks & fun vids to watch

If the ford tires are about an inch taller than the dodge, they are about even as is with the 4.3 vs 4.10. If the tires stay the same, the dodge would have the advantage if both were 4.10's.

Really though, more hp, slightly more tq, and a F450 with a 4.30 vs the 3500 with 4.10 in the Ram. Results were about what one would expect.
I wonder what the results would be with an F350/4.10 vs a Ram 3500/4.10?
