Could I ask if you remember your max tranny temp?
The trans temp stayed at around 190 to 220 throughout the trip except down the Teton Pass. I was using 1st to hold my speed down and the RPM would reach 4000 before I would apply brakes. About 3/4 of the way down, the transmission hot indicator came on. It was over 250, but I didn't see what the max was. I put it in 2nd and used more brakes and the trans temp started dropping. When I got to the bottom, I stopped for gas. The brakes were hot but I didn't detect much fade. When I finished fueling up, the temperatures were back to a normal 200 or so. When I do that pass again, I'll use more brake. I didn't experience any excessively high temps on 8% or less grades.
This was my first experience towing through these kinds of conditions. The advice on these forums have certainly made my trip easier.
