Where are you getting your info? I believe your numbers are low. More like 2900 pounds for my 2002.
Actual owners on RV.net forums that have weighed their setups. Here is an example. Plus the Tire and loading stickers for 2006 model years with 8.1L, last year of GMT800 SUVs and first year of NHTSA required payload stickers. There are no full trim GMT 800 SUV big blocks with 2900 pounds of payload. Maybe you have a 2WD LS with 8.1L closer to 2300 pounds.
FWIW my GMT800 with 6.0L and lots of options is only 2051 pounds. GMT800 6.0L weighs a little less for the same equipment, but 8.1L weighs more.
