I was up to Maumee Bay, OH this weekend, 5+ hours each way, and was thinking about you and wondering if you had the chance to tow with your new burb yet....truck and trailer ran great, although forgot to check the mileage when I filled up.
One thing to note on this thread is that the 8.1 is drive by wire, meaning that the accelerator pedal is just another input for the computer, there is no throttle cable. I think GM designed it this way to keep you from smoking the tires every time you tap the gas....so it doesn't "feel" fast like you think it should. The flip side is that throttle response is very similar both empty and loaded.
Thanks for thinking of me. I've taken the trailer out for a test tow, nothing more since there was some pretty serious work that had to be done to the front end. During the test tow, the camper barely squatted down the burb. It pulls in 4th gear at 65mph without even really thinking about it.
I'm still getting used to it honestly. I think I was more "in tune" with my Denali than I thought I was. Gas mileage is predictably pretty bad so far. I think I'm just a shade under 11mpg. That's both in town and at least one super high speed highway drive to the airport.
I think the big clincher for this new rig will be the first time I load up both the burb and the camper and go on a trip.
