My mother occasionally tells the story of the first time she met my Dad.

They had been to a winter dance where a bit of drinking was involved by some of the boys. Not having known my dad long, Mother never-the-less rode back to a friends house with him, as the other car was full. They were following the other car over rough, icy roads and he foolishly tried to keep up.

Right after going over a concrete railroad overpass, it seemed a good downhill run to catch up... but it wasn't. The smooth road went right back to heck rjust past the overpass. The sudo-road got so knarly right after, Dad rolled his '28 Chevrolet over, finally coming to a stop on the passenger side. Neither was hurt bad.

As he tried to crawl up, and out the drivers window, his pants leg slipped over the floor shifter, or some lever on the floor. I guess he couldn't believe the nerve of the unfamiliar young lady he was with, who was still in the car. He kept yelling, "Let go a my leg! Let go a my leg!"

Mother had to finally grab his leg and forcibly unhook it. He never understood until after they were both out. At 92, Mother still snickers when she tells the story of the night they met. Guess I'm darn lucky she still married him.

Some of the other boys helped Dad tip it back up on the wheels the next day. Started right up, no worse for wear.

Bet it was a rental.

Shows the advantage of pizza cutters. . . they seem to outperform big, fat, aggressive knobbies in most muddy situations.

Ain't that the truth. You take any new truck and put it on it's top and if it isn't totaled you're looking at a $10K bill to fix it.

That is great video. Just think we complain about our roads!

Makes me think back to the days when we believed that a jeep could not go off road unless it was Coors powered. I can not believe some of the stupid things we used to do, like trying to outdo each other hill climbing. A couple of times I had the front wheels come off and it was a case of grabbing reverse ease it back down. Now we use the jeep to go to breakfast or the hardware store.
